April 2026 Red Reserve Club: Stark-Condé Stellenbosch Syrah 2020 & Avignonesi Grifi Toscana 2022

For April, the Red Reserve Club journeys across two of the wine world’s most storied terroirs: the dramatic hillsides of Stellenbosch, South Africa, and the historic heartland of Tuscany, Italy.

Stark-Condé Stellenbosch Syrah

From South Africa’s celebrated Jonkershoek Valley, Stark-Condé Stellenbosch Syrah is an old-world styled expression of elegance and restraint – different from the bold, jammy Shiraz many expect from the Southern Hemisphere. The team at Stark-Condé crafts this wine with meticulous care: small-lot fermentation, careful extraction, and 22 months in French oak, all in service of a Syrah that speaks with quiet authority about its rocky, stony terroir.

Avignonesi Grifi Toscana 2022

From Tuscany, Avignonesi’s Grifi is a Super Tuscan reborn — a bold meeting of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon originally produced in the 1980s, paused, and brought triumphantly back to life under owner Virginie Saverys. Since acquiring the estate in 2009, Saverys has transformed Avignonesi into Italy’s largest regenerative wine estate, farming entirely organically and biodynamically without synthetic intervention. Grifi, meaning “griffins,” takes its name from the mythical creature found on the coats-of-arms of both Montepulciano and Cortona — the two towns whose vineyards provide the fruit for this wine.

Together, these wines celebrate two distinct expressions of terroir, two continents, and two leaders reshaping what it means to farm and make wine with integrity.

Club members can sample all four bottle club selections and pick up their wines at the pick up event on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 or at Curio for the remainder of April.
