Featured Club Wine for September 2025: The Counselor Cabernet Sauvignon

Our September Curio Founder’s Club pick is the expressive The Counselor, a single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from River Pass Vineyard in Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California. This Cabernet greets you with an inky violet-black hue and an inviting aroma of fresh blueberries mingled with red and black cherries. On the palate, layers of blackberry, fig, plum, and dark cherry unfold gracefully, interwoven with mocha, baking spice, and toasty oak notes. The structure is refined, with supple tannins and a vibrant, lingering finish that hints at silky complexity to come.

The Story of the Wine
Crafted with deep respect for the land, winemaker Nick Goldschmidt draws on over 20 years of local experience to unfold the character of this single-vineyard Cabernet. His philosophy? “It is the land that provides the ultimate counsel.” The Counselor is, quite literally, a conversation with the soil.

Food pairings
This wine pairs well with grilled Ribeye, roasted meats, or aged hard cheeses. Its finesse and structure make it an excellent companion for both bold and nuanced dishes.
